If you are able to feel the stud spinning, you may have enough

room to get a mig or a stick welder in there to spot weld the stud to the

hub. Then use PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench to soak the lug nut for an hour

or two. If you are unable to spot weld it, try squeezing a pry bar in &

put enough pressure on the back of the stud to get the nut off. Once

again, soak the nut down with some type of penetrating oil. If all else
fails, break out the hammer/chisel or a dremel with a small cutting disc.
If it is a steel wheel, you may be able to use a plasma cutter or torch.
Definitely replace the stud & nut once you get it off. You may have to
get a stud that has a larger spline for a better bite on the hub. Good
luck!

Go to Sears & buy a nut-cracker. It is a tool that you use to

split the nut without having to use a hammer & chisel. Think of a vise

with a ''V'' shaped wedge that meets at the face of the nut. You tighten

the ''vise'' & it will drive the wedge into the nut until it cracks. Then

you can turn the nut off the stud.

I believe the tool should cost about $25 & the ''V'' wedge is replaceable,
so the tool should last a lifetime. Don't waste time trying to bang the
nut off or using a torch. You may cause more damage to other parts.

Good luck!

those older troopers are know for that. they used real soft

4x4 or 4x2? while you're at it, have all the studs replaced & buy all new
lug nuts all the way around. do not use that impact, off by hand & on by
hand, those are very easy to cross thread. i would take it to a shop,
unless you are confident & know mechanics. the damaged stud has to be cut
off.

Vice grips? Cutting torch? Wedge the sucker so it won't spin? Beat the

Good luck, bro. Been there, done that. It only becomes fun after the third

Break or cut it off. Its not too hard or expensive to replace

it. Same thing happened on my Accord. The nut got stuck and kept spinning

If you can get a wrench on the lug bolt head you may be able
Gare Bear
to get the nut off. You will need to replace the bolt.

Well a couple ways, hard to tell without looking at it.

You could try to use a hammer to reseat the stud back in, use some

penetrating oil before trying to take the lug nut off.

you could also do the penetrating oil on the nut, & try to hold the

backside of the stud with a vise grips & then try to get it loose again.

If you get desperate, you can try either an angle grinder to saw that
thing off, or drill out the stud, if you drill out the stud, you may need
to use a cold chisel to finish it off.

If you use penetrating oil, be careful, if you get it all over the brake
pads, you will have to replace them
